Living My Dream!

11 05 2009

My husband Tim and I currently have 12 Shetland sheep, 7 alpacas, 6 llamas, 3 foster llama, 5 dogs, and 8 cats.  All my life I have wanted to live on a farm and have a lot of critters.  After living in Florida since the 8th grade, marrying, raising our children there and living in an urban community, we moved to rural Southwest Indiana in April of 2000.  It is beautiful here.  Now I can experience the change of seasons, beautiful spring flowers and the opportunity to have my critters.  I decided to raise Shetland Sheep for their fiber and learned to spin their wool, weave and knit so I can actually do something with the wool our sheep give us each year.  Now we are down-sizing our flock and I have obtained alpacas and llamas.  I am just loving these animals.  They are so cool.

The summer of 2008, I formed the Indiana Fiber Producers Association and in November 2008 we opened a shop called “It’s About Fiber” on our property.  You can learn more about the association and the shop by clicking on the link to the right.
